Lewiston, Idaho and neighboring Clarkston, Washington sit near the confluence of the Clearwater and Snake rivers and serve as an important northern gateway to Hells Canyon.

From Lewiston, visitors can travel south on the Snake River and watch the landscape gradually transform from the rolling hills of the Lewis-Clark Valley into the increasingly steep and rugged walls of Hells Canyon.

Snake River Adventures operates public Hells Canyon jet boat tours departing from Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston, Idaho, allowing visitors to experience the canyon without having to drive deep into its remote interior.

The journey into Hells Canyon begins almost immediately after leaving the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, with the scenery continuing to become more dramatic as you travel upriver.
